FINNISHBANDS
-This
band was very popular in Finland in the sixties. They cut two Lp´s
plus numerous singles ...quite a few were hit singles here ...though
most were cover versions in finnish language (PENNY LANE,GOD ONLY KNOWS
etc)
TOPMOST
Topmost - Some of the cuts included were kind of lightweight, but the
Song
"UFO" was a hoot. "Their Finnish accents pronounce the chorus
as
"Unidentified Flying Obeeeejeckt."
The story of this band is quite like the same as the one of JORMAS´
... They were hugely popular in Finland ( in fact had a sort of friendly
"rivalry" between JORMAS and themselves) ... their self-titled album (PARLOPHONE
PARLP 303)1967 has diverse music on it ranging from very soft ballads to
gutsy instrumental blues ... looks as though they couldn´t have decided
what sorta band to be ...The LP has a superb psychedelic cover ...the
above mentioned UFO is the highlight of the album on the whole the LP is
quite lightweight. It was reissued in 1968 (STAR SWLP 4) ...both versions
are extremely rare! There is not a CD or Vinyl reissue available. The band
included two future record company directors plus other celebrities.
